Unwritten stories.
Two
Olya came back home.
She was quite tired. She was, actually, exhausted... yet, satisfied.
She was doing great with her new job, she had time for her hobbies, all her friends and family were (and made her) happy. She just moved into her new sunny appartment after the greatest summer getaway one can possibly have. Her fridge was full, her heart was full.
She had just talked on the phone to her dearest friend who said her baby had made his first steps. Olya thought she wished she had been there to see it. Then she wished it was her child making his first steps.
She walked to her full fridge, on an empty stomach, and took a cold beer. Then quickly chose a movie and seated herself comfortably into the new sofa which had the ability to hug you lovingly.
Olya started the movie and tucked both feet under the tights - in order to complete the ultimate after-work warm home experience. Then she finally reached for her beer, opened it, had a sip of it and suddenly froze in surprise.
She could open a beer can?
It was her ex-husband doing it for her in the last seven years, because she had once said, during their first date, that she never opened a can - she was afraid she would hurt her fingernails.. Naturally, she was now surprised with the discovery. But happy. It turns out she was finally perfectly fine with herself. By herself.
Olya smiled. Snuggled into the sofa. Took another sip and turned her attention back to the movie.
Her shaggy dog joined her on the sofa.

Thirsty
How long should one wait for a beer to get cold in the freezer.. without risking to have it blown up?
It's kinda urgent.

The Better Halves
Halves are more important than you can imagine.
Here are some Bulgarian halves who tried hard to win a chance for their..., ahm, halves to go to the Final.
Yes, yes, women rock!

In case of emergency
The sunny season of beer is here!
In case you happen to be in need of an emergency idea for opening a bottle of the blissful beverage:

Twelve easy steps to getting fat
1. Become a student (better in a high-ranked university, where they actually want you to study).
2. Try to study as little as possible during the semester and wait for the exam period.
3. Lock yourself in your room and start studying.
4. Alternate studying with eating - you have to make breaks, right?
5. Reward yourself with sweets for studying good.
6. Eat some sweets to comfort yourself if studying is not going well.
7. Sleep less so that you can study more.. and compensate for the lacking energy with excessive amounts of food.
8. Drink some beers (alone, of course, you're supposed to be in your room, studying).
9. Don't exercise - you don't have time for that
10. Don't cook - the faster your food, the sooner you get back to studying.
11. Start hating your life and while you're stuffing yourself with chocolate cake, make a promise that next semester you'll study before the exam session actually comes.
12. Never keep the promise.

Christmas spirit selection, vol. 10
When I came upon this picture two years ago, I hadn't heard of Anheuser-Busch InBev and that it was the brewer of Leuven's pride: Stella Artois..
This evening I'm having a Stella in Leuven, thinking about all the things that I experienced in the last two years.. and I hope you can also look back and find at least one thing that you are grateful you had the chance to experience!
Merry Christmas! :)

The art of beer
Drinking an 8.5 % beer and leaving with a peach breath is something you can easily experience in Belgium.
Opening a beer with whatever one has in hand can happen everywhere... but I learned how to do this when I came to Belgium. Yes, I look funny while struggling with each bottle..yet, the facts say I did open one: on the beer case, with the handle of a ladle (that's interesting to see), with another bottle, with a lighter (the classic).
I thought I will only use that new skill to impress people on parties, but the beer-need caught me alone, without a bottle opener. So, you know.. I just wanted to show off a bit.

Cool stuff
When I was told that all 15 people living in my building will share one fridge, I thought that might be a problem.. Fortunately, nobody seems to be interested. The only Belgians to use the fridge are the girl with the jar of pickles and several alcohol owners..

My street..
So, this is Oude Markt. My street (well.. almost my street).. They call it "the longest bar in Europe".
Here's one picture by day:
.. and one from the other side..
Every door here is an entrance to a bar..
And two pictures from the second day of the Student Welcome Fair..

Students are welcome
The more time passes, the happier I get for choosing to come to Leuven.. That's an amazing place.. with special spirit.. most students you have ever seen in one city.. something to do at any time of the day/night.. and definitely a place to meet interesting people from all (really ALL) over the world .. On top of it all it's super sunny these days, which makes the whole wonder-picture complete.. :)
