Tales about linguistics

The following is a talk between two international students in Denmark. One of them is watching TV.

- Hey, what are you watching?
- Some movie. I am practicing my Danish.
- But this is the Norwegian channel..
- Ah!.. Well, that's OK, I don't know Norwegian either.

Mornin'!

This is how I usually go to school when I don't have the time to sit down and have my coffee before I leave home.

If you're an egg-head

Voice-over in the ad:
"If you're an egg-head, putting your son in karate doesn't make a lot of sense.
Neither does paying too much for a hotel room.

Fit in

(Reversed) countdown: 7

"7 weeks are gone" and a nice chillout-downtempo-lounge-ambient-jazzy-and-so-on song to go with the news.

Sweater weather

When I was putting on my winter jacket today, I thought that this song is also quite suitable for the weather.

Goodnight, kids!

The following video is what you see every day after 9 p.m. on a Danish kids' TV channel "DR Ramasjang".
It continues throughout the whole night.. sleeping people and puppets.. accompanied with snoring and occasional farts. A total must-see!

Coffee disturbance

If your coffee does not give you the chills, does not wake you up.. nor make feel like you have to run for your life.. maybe David Lynch's Signature Cup Coffee will do the trick..

Lonely but happy

The other day I figured out that I have favorited 3 songs on Youtube that are with "lonely lyrics", but which I actually find quite happy and charging.
The first and the second one also have pretty cool videos.

Some other cool (a)lone(ly) songs:
Nana - Lonely
Bobby Vinton - Mr. Lonely (nope, not Akon)
Lionel Richie - Hello
Bee Gees - Alone
Freddie Mercury (Queen) - Living On My Own
Godsmack - I Stand Alone

To Do (one day) list: 1)

Dream talent

It's one of these periods when I've got a ton of books to read for school. Time is never enough, but there is hope. I only need to find out how to acquire a talent like this one (starting min. 1:28) which should do the trick..

I can assure you that if you go to incredibox.fr* you'll spend some great deal of fun time while gathering your own boyband to sing for you.

When the sun goes down

..I'll wish you good night!

Sun in colors

The sun outside, the rainbow on the previous post, and my intensive urge for some sugar-stuffed sweets, combined like Voltron and led me to thinking of this ad.
It's simply a masterpiece of a (sick) genius!

Communication over dinner

I want to ride my bicycle

Today I participated in the heavily congested morning bike traffic.. It felt weirdly awesome. I can't wait for the next time I'll join the mutual sleepy attempts to pull yourself up the hill.

New dry rum

No, that's not an ad.. nor a riddle, or some secret instructions to a storage filled with alcohol..
That's a note from the caretaker of our dorm. He is letting us know that in the other part of the building there is a new room where you can hang your clothes to dry.

Easter bunnies!

They came to our garden for (the Catholic) Easter!
The rest of the year they are just bunnies that come to hang out in the back yard..

There is an interesting project by Irina Werning, called "Back to The Future". She is a photographer who decided to recreate people's old photos in extreme details.

There are more shots on the internet (just search in Google), but I'm sharing with you part 1 and part 2 that I saw on BoredPanda.

Going somewhere for the holidays?

If 'yes', then I have another question: How precious is your luggage this Easter?

Rain again

I hate it - the rain. Though when you think about it, nothing really changes when it rains.

A carriage for two

This bike looked so cute with its colorful tiny seats that I started to wish my bottom was small enough to fit into one of them.

I saw this one in the Netherlands, but they are a pretty common vehicle on the streets of Denmark. Here they call it "christiania bike".

You may be surprised but it comes very handy. If you don't trust me, here you can see some people talking about it.

Trippy

An "ancient"disco ball with sadistic allusion, a deer's head, a painting of a (naked male) pink Little Pony, a woman reading a book, a high bartender in her 50s, slow (self) service, open doors at 5° C, random people walking in to have a beer while standing at the same place they found themselves when they entered, a menu written on the wall, people of all ages having a good time... What an awesome place!

Get hooked

When you look up, you can see that most of the buildings in Amsterdam have these devices sticking out from under the roofs.

I was told that, due to the steep narrow staircases, hardly anything can be taken up the stairs. So, these hooks on ropes are used to lift furniture, which you then pull into your apartment through the window.

Sunshine through a painted sky

A two-day patient search of sun did not lead to positive results, but the last day of my stay in Amsterdam was lit by (occasional) sunlight.. I took it as a personal goodbye present.

On streets with heavy traffic, traffic lights are a must.

What time is it?

Putting a sun-clock on a building in the center of a beautiful city, is a great idea... Unless the city is in a no-sun country.

Faces

Next time you visit a new place, pay attention to its street art. It is just as important for your cultural enrichment as all those museums and popular sightseeing spots you will see.

The city of the tilted buildings

Have you even been to Amsterdam? Did you notice that quite a lot of the buildings there are pretending to be The Leaning Tower of Pisa?

Like this one, in the middle:

Or maybe this picture makes for better demonstration:
